Developing a joint declaration on citizen science for the SDG
by Haklay, Muki 20 Nov '24

I hope this email finds you well. I am reaching out on behalf of the Horizon Europe project European Citizen Science<https://eu-citizen.science/ecs_project/> (ECS) to invite you to participate in a short survey<https://www.soscisurvey.de/CS_for_the_SDGs/> on citizen science for the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The aim of ECS is to strengthen citizen science as a valuable research approach for scientific excellence and sustainable development in Europe - for instance by promoting citizen science in support of the SDGs. To this end, we are co-designing an updated version of the declaration "Our world - our goals: Citizen Science for the Sustainable Development Goals<https://zenodo.org/records/4472729>", which was collaboratively drafted in 2020 by over 60 CS practitioners and other relevant stakeholders from all over Europe. As a first step, we are conducting a survey to assess to what extent the eleven recommendations contained in this declaration have been implemented, find out what needs to be done to implement the recommendations that have not been realized yet, and ask which new recommendations should be added. Your insights as citizen science experts and practitioners will be invaluable in shaping the updated CS SDG Declaration! The survey will be open until 8 January 2025. It takes about 10 minutes to complete and does not collect any personal information. To participate, please click on the link below: https://www.soscisurvey.de/CS_for_the_SDGs/ Thank you very much for your time and input! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at marius.oesterheld(a)mfn.berlin<mailto:marius.oesterheld@mfn.berlin>. If you would like to contribute to the updated CS SDG Declaration beyond this survey (either asynchronously or in the context of co-design workshops), please click here<https://forms.gle/fUap46aaujTnxjav5> to sign up for our mailing list. Kind regards, Muki Haklay On behalf of the ECS project
